Regulatory mutations in the A2M gene are involved in the mastitis susceptibility in dairy cows

Abstract: Mutations, such as single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs), in the 5′-flanking and microRNA (miRNA) regulatory regions may result in altered gene expression levels and cause diseases. Alpha-2-macroglobulin (A2M) has the function of binding host or foreign peptides and particles, and thereby serves as a defense barrier against pathogens in the plasma and tissues of animals. To investigate the functional markers of the A2M gene associated with mastitis, the promoter was characterized and SNPs that affect promoter… Show more

“…Given the fact that inflammation impacts a wide range of organs, it is not surprising that inflammatory disorders include a variety of diseases that affect multiple organs . As a result of its roles in the regulation of inflammation, HDAC6 inhibition might be an effective treatment in a variety of inflammatory diseases, including RA, IBD, asthma, and COPD (Fig b).…”

“…These adaptations involve increased genomic instability and mutation, coupled with changes to signaling pathways and gene expression programs, creating an intricate network that researchers have been trying to unravel in recent years . Uncovering the molecular mechanisms by which plants and microorganisms respond to stresses will help us to better understand biological evolution . Insights from these studies could impact a wide variety of fields, ranging from the identification of phenotypic traits to improve crop tolerance to extreme conditions, to the design of more effective therapeutic strategies for cancer …”
