“…The crystals such as β-BaB 2 O 4 (β-BBO), 1 LiB 3 O 5 (LBO), 2 CsB 3 O 5 (CBO), 3 CsLiB 6 O 10 (CLBO), 4,5 and KBe 2 BO 3 F 2 (KBBF) 6,7 have been manufactured and used worldwide due to their wide range transparency, large and effective second harmonic generation (SHG) coefficients and high resistance against laser-induced damage properties. According to the anionic group theory, the (BO 3 ) 3− triangular group is the best optically active fundamental unit, [8][9][10] hence lots of borates with isolated BO 3 groups have been synthesized such as Mg 5 (BO 3 ) 3 F, 11 Ca 5 (BO 3 ) 3 F, [12][13][14][15][16] Sr 5 (BO 3 ) 3 X (X = F, Cl, Br), 17,18 Ba 5 (BO 3 ) 3 X (X = F, Cl, Br), 19,20 Cd 5 (BO 3 ) 3 F, 21 Li 4 Sr(BO 3 ) 2 22 and so on. The SHG response of Ca 5 (BO 3 ) 3 F and Cd 5 (BO 3 ) 3 F is 2× and 3.8× that of KDP.…”
