Show more

“…Several reports focused on the estimation of drainable porosity based on soil properties: sand, bulk density, total porosity, organic matter, and water-dispersed clay (Mello et. al., 2007) or on hydraulic conductivity due to water table lowering (Feitoza, 2006;Ribeiro et al, 2007). Within the context of the study subject, soil compaction, Corsini & Ferraudo (1999) developed two expressions to estimate soil bulk density from macroporosity for a Dark Red Latosol.…”

“…Considering the compilation of equations presented by Ribeiro et al (2007) and using the hydraulic conductivity of the soil of the experimental installation used for the validation of the proposed model, which will be described in the following (k = 1.382 * 10 -5 m/s), the Chossat and Sagnac equation was selected (standard error of the estimate equals to 77.48 and correlation coefficient of 0.97, when compared with experimental data), expressed in Eq. 13:…”

“…Samples were placed in trays to which water was added slowly over three days up to near the sample top, without exceeding it. After saturation, samples presented a superficial water layer, their mass was determined and then they were submitted to tension equivalent to a 0.60-meter water column until the hydrostatic equilibrium was reached (Ribeiro et al, 2007). Samples were weighed again and dried at 105°C for 48 hours for dry mass determination.…”
