“…This study contributes both to the emerging, but still limited, literature on mindfulness and financial decision-making as well as to the more established literature on financial well-being. In terms of the former, mindfulness has scantly appeared in the literature on financial decision-making, although its popularity has started to increase with the rise of concepts such as mindful finance (Sinha et al , 2021). We contribute to this developing stream of literature by demonstrating how mindfulness can benefit consumers by reducing their usage of BNPL payment schemes through the underlying mechanisms of increasing their financial self-control and decreasing their impulse buying tendency.…”

“…The study finds that mindfulness is negatively associated with online IBB as well as with PIU. PIU is associated with multiple detrimental psychosocial outcomes and adverse emotional experiences ( Caplan, 2002 ; Sinha et al, 2021a ). Since the essential features of e-commerce websites may play a significant role in triggering emotions to stimulate the impulse buying behavior ( Park et al, 2012 ), e-commerce firms may look at ways to institutionalize the embedded mechanisms (e.g., pop-up messages) within their interactive web portal framework to boost mindfulness of the customers which, in turn, reduces the dysfunctional usage of the Internet in the form of PIU Such external interventions are effective in augmenting customers’ awareness level ( Monaghan, 2008 ), allowing them to make informed purchase decisions.…”

“…This construct was inspired by the financial attitudes and behaviors present in the OCDE/INFE (2018) tools related to FWB. The dimension portrays financial tranquility as the opposite feeling of financial stress (Delafrooz et al, 2011;Gutter and Copur, 2011;Netemeyer et al, 2018;Prawitz et al, 2006;Iannello et al, 2021), financial anxiety (F€ unfgeld and Wang, 2009;Stromb€ ach et al, 2017;Sinha et al, 2021) and the financial strain (Ianole-Calin et al, 2021). Table 4 lists the FWBPS items according to the financial tranquility dimension.…”
