Abstract:Abslract-Volume changes and pressure variations are fundamental determinants of ventrkuhr functioning. Ventricular end-systolic elastance (Emax) depends on ejection pressure and end-systolic volume, whereas arterial elastance (Ea) refers to the ratio of ejection pressure and stroke volume. Coupling between left ventricle and arterial bed has often been quantitated by using the ratio of Emax and Ea. Reportedly, this ratio equals to one for optimal coupliog conditions, but measurements in humans documented value… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
