“…Our results show that the average blood Pb level of children in Guiyu is 5.19 mg/dL, and about 54.5% Guiyu children with blood Pb level exceed 5 mg/dL. According to our previous studies, the percentages of blood Pb level !5 mg/dL of Guiyu children in 2007 (Huo et al, 2007), 2014 (Liu et al, 2014a,b), 2016 (Zeng et al, 2016a,b), and 2020 (Chen et al, 2020) were 91%, 83%, 66%, and 37%, respectively. These results indicate that there is a downward trend in blood Pb levels of Guiyu children over time, which may imply that the degree of Pb pollution are diminishing with the efforts of scientific workers and the promulgation and enforcement of national e-waste policies and legislation.…”

“…The level of serum IgM was associated with the level of the autoimmune ability of piglets ( 64 ). White blood cells participate in the immune response of animals, and their abnormal increase indicates the presence of inflammation, so they are important clinical indicators for health status ( 65 , 66 ). Both neutrophils and monocytes are immune-related white blood cells that aid in the host's defense against invading pathogens ( 67 ).…”

“…Many studies have delineated a link between early life Pb exposure and blood pressure dysregulation, endothelial dysfunction, lipid metabolism disorders, and subsequent development of cardiovascular disease (CVD) [ 75 , 76 ]. Findings from three epidemiological studies [ 77 , 78 , 79 ] showed associations between Pb and the cardiovascular system. Lu et al [ 78 ] discovered that Pb impaired vascular structure and aggravated endothelial inflammation, perturbed blood pressure, as well as lowered the ability of lipids clearance, ultimately raising the risk of atherosclerosis.…”

“…Zheng et al [ 77 ] demonstrated elevated biomarkers of endothelial inflammation (S100A8/A9) and other inflammatory cytokines (such as interleukin-6 (IL-6), interleukin12p70 (IL-12p70), and interferon-inducible protein-10 (IP-10)) of children in Guiyu, indicating that Pb exposure originating from the Pb-containing region may exacerbate endothelial inflammation and contributing to the development of CVD. Chen et al [ 79 ] found that Pb-exposed children manifested smaller left ventricle (including interventricular septum, left ventricle posterior wall, and left ventricle mass index) and impaired left ventricle systolic function (including left ventricle fractional shortening and left ventricle ejection fraction). These studies provide a scientific basis for further in-depth research concerning the effect of Pb on cardiovascular system development.…”
