Relationship Between Ball Kick Velocity and Leg Strength: A Comparison Between Soccer Players and other Athletes

Abstract: This study compared soccer players with non-soccer players, with respect to the relationship between ball velocity due to an instep kick and various leg strengths. Ten young university soccer players and ten other athletes (non-soccer players) had their instep kick ball velocity (BV) measured with respect to isokinetic leg strength. The BVs from the soccer players were significantly greater than those from the non-soccer group. However, this group also had significantly inferior dorsiflexion strength of the an… Show more

“…Different players have high levels of muscular strength that appears in muscular strength tests but couldn't be applied in skill performance as it requires the ability of good kinetic correlation and movement right transmission. The good co-operation of the kinetic transmission process of the exerted strength from the trunk to the thigh then leg then ankle works in an open reaction chain starting from trunk to ankle (Noguchi et, al., 2012). The muscular strength in the upper and lower part of the body moves through a set of muscles groups participating in soccer kicking skill.…”

“…Given kicking is an important factor and a major football game player it is necessary to develop proficiency in the kicking. A good kicking in the game of football requires the ability to estimate the distance and direction in which the ball must because football player must direct the ball to the right [6]. Besides, there is an element in a no less important in directing the force of power.…”

“…Other researchers study the relationship of ball speed with the anthropometric indicators and the power of the shot (Manolopoulos et al, 2004;Apriantono et al, 2006;Cerrah, et al 2011;Young and Rath, 2011;Noguchi, et al 2012;Brahim, et al 2013;Rodríguez-Lorenzo, et al, 2016;Gadev, Peev, 2019). All sides of this problem help to expand our knowledge about the problem of the ball speed of in-step kick in football.…”
