Relationship between preoperative lymphocyte to monocyte ratio and surgery outcome in type A aortic dissection

Abstract: BackgroundLymphocyte-to-monocyte ratio (LMR) is associated with the mortality of cardiovascular diseases. However, the relationship between preoperative LMR and the prognosis of patients with Stanford type A aortic dissection (TAAD) undergoing surgical treatment remains to be determined.MethodsWe enrolled 879 patients with TAAD undergoing surgical treatment between January 2018 and December 2021. Patients were divided into two groups: the Deceased group and the Survived group. The baseline clinical and operati… Show more

“…There are several prognostic biomarkers from peripheral blood components, such as NLR, platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio (PLR), monocyte-to-high-density lipoprotein cholesterol ratio, and LMR. 6 The LMR, which is calculated as a ratio of lymphocytes to monocytes, has been increasingly recognized as a newly emerging inflammatory biomarker in 17 The LMR has also been studied as a prognostic indicator for adverse outcomes in cardiovascular disorders, including acute coronary syndrome, 7 acute myocardial infarction, 8 acute aortic dissection, 10,11 and peripheral artery disease. 12 The prognostic value of LMR in AAA patients undergoing EVAR remains to be elucidated.…”

“…6 The LMR, which is calculated as a ratio of lymphocytes to monocytes, has been increasingly recognized as a newly emerging inflammatory biomarker in clinical practice; it has been identified as a poor prognostic indicator in various cancers, independent of cancer type and stage, treatment, age, performance status. 17 The LMR has also been studied as a prognostic indicator for adverse outcomes in cardiovascular disorders, including acute coronary syndrome, 7 acute myocardial infarction, 8 acute aortic dissection, 10,11 and peripheral artery disease. 12…”
