This paper focuses on the impact of strategic leadership on operational strategy and organizational performance of the automobile industry in Malaysia with a particular focus on Proton (Perusahaan Otomobil Malaysia). Since the mid-1980s a growing body of research on leadership has focused on strategic leadership, in contrast to managerial and visionary leadership. It has focused on how leaders make decisions in the short term that guarantees long-term viability of the organization. Senior leaders also have the ability to align human resources in an effective way directly to the business strategy. This article focuses on how national car manufacturer, Proton, exercises strategic leadership to influence its operational strategy and performance. It examines both dependent and independent variables that influence on strategic leadership with implications for future research.

Confusion between strategic planning and strategic thinking in the context of strategic leadership and its effect on competitive advantage was the foremost rationale for this study to come into view. Thereby, the aim of this study was to examine the role of two mediating variables, i.e., strategic planning and strategic thinking in the impact of strategic leadership on competitive advantage. Scoping health care sector in Jordan resulted in three public hospitals agreed to participate in the study. Data were gathered using a questionnaire developed on the basis of literature review. A total of 1000 questionnaires were administered to hospitals. A total 521 questionnaires were returned with a response rate of 52.1%. The results pinpointed that strategic leadership significantly predicted strategic planning, strategic thinking and competitive advantage. the results also revealed that strategic planning and strategic thinking significantly and positively related to competitive advantage. accordingly, it was approved that strategic planning and strategic thinking mediated the effect of strategic leadership on competitive advantage. Despite that the influence of strategic thinking on competitive advantage was greater than the influence of strategic planning on competitive advantage. The study hold the perspective that both strategic planning and strategic thinking were essential in the context of strategic leadership, since strategies are developed by strategic thinking and operationalized via strategic planning.

The success of the school in the academic side is embedded to the surrounding environment, especially how the relationship between the school communities in activities that binds them in a meaningful activity. A school-surrounding environment is impact of the interaction between individuals that are built in a planned concept of school climate. School climate are the external factors of motivation that determine the level of performance of the school community. On the other hand, it is a continuous school quality improvement effort. The research aim is to analyze School Principal efforts to build school environment that encourages community learning. This research employs qualitative-descriptive method. The subjects of this research are the school principal, teachers, and students. The main sources of information are the school principal, teachers, non-teaching staffs, and students. The data was collected through observation, interview, Focus Group Discussion, and documentation study. Data was processed by using descriptive data analysis techniques. The effort of principals in shaping the school environment that encourages community learning in school is a way to improve the quality of schools focusing all school components. There were some efforts made by principal in creating a school environment that encourages learning community.
