Relationships between tumour necrosis factor‐α, interleukin‐12B and interleukin‐10 gene polymorphisms and hepatitis B in Chinese Han haemodialysis patients

Abstract: TNF-α and IL12B 3'UTR gene polymorphisms may be associated with HBV susceptibility and IL-10 gene polymorphisms may be related to the HBV persistence infection in Chinese Han HD patients.

“…In this study, the genotypic profile AA + CA at position ‐592 in the promoter of the IL10 gene was found to be more frequent in the clearance group than among the chronically HBV infected individuals. This seemed to corroborate previous studies performed in China showing an increased frequency of the AA genotype in subjects with viral clearance [Wang et al, ] and an association of the GG genotype to chronicity [Xiang et al, ]. However, the difference of genotype frequencies observed here was not statistically significant, and divergent findings have also been reported [Cheong et al, ; Sofian et al, ].…”

“…The outcome of infection is thought to depend on viral, environmental and host genetic factors. Due to the key role of cytokine expression levels in the immunoregulatory response against HBV infection, a number of SNPs located in IL2, IL4, IL6, IL10, IL12B, IL16, IL17, IL18, IL21, IL23R, IFNγ, and TNF‐α genes have been investigated in order to evaluate their importance on the balance between host immunity and viral survival strategies [Wang et al, , ; Gao et al, ; Lu et al, ; Romani et al, ; Tunçbilek, ; Xiang et al, ; Zhang et al, ; Ferreira et al, ; Ren et al, ; Sghaier et al, ; Wu et al, ; Yao et al, ].…”

“…Three SNPs in the IL-10 gene were genotyped in young children and their mothers: IL-10 A-1082G (rs1800896), IL-10 A-592C (rs1800872), and IL-10 G919T (rs1518110). Two SNPs (IL-10 A-1082G and IL-10 A-592C) are located in the promoter of the IL-10 gene and have been reported to be associated with infection (18,24,26), and IL-10 G919T is a common SNP in Africans. Genotyping of the three SNPs was performed by the Australian Genome Research Facility (AGRF) using the iPLEX assay on the MassARRAY system (Sequenom, San Diego, CA) (4) according to the manufacturer's instructions (Sequenom).…”

“…Some also suggest vaccination in primary stages of development of kidney disease. [16][17][18][19][20] In a study, Sanadgol et al investigated levamisole as adjuvant for improvement of response to hepatitis B vaccination in hemodialysis patients and conclude that levamisole did not lead to significant increase in antibody titer in the second and 4 th month and only anti-HBV antibody level was significantly lower immediately after HBV vaccination when it was accompanied by levamisole administration. 21 According to published literature, it seems that there is no study conducted on effect of levamisole as adjuvant to improve response rate to hepatitis B vaccination in patients suffering from CKD in stage before starting hemodialysis.…”
