RELATIVISTIC JET PROPERTIES OF GeV-TeV BLAZARS AND POSSIBLE IMPLICATIONS FOR THE JET FORMATION, COMPOSITION, AND CAVITY KINEMATICS

Abstract: We fit the spectral energy distributions (SEDs) of a GeV-TeV FSRQ sample with the leptonic model. Their γ min of the relativistic electron distributions, which significantly affect the estimates of the jet properties, are constrained, with a typical value of ∼ 48. Their jet power, magnetized parameter, radiation efficiency, and jet production/radiation rates per central black hole (BH) mass are derived and compared to that of BL Lacs. We show that the FSRQ jets may be dominated by the Poynting flux and have a … Show more

“…The broadband SED is fitted with a simple one-zone leptonic jet model, which consists of synchrotron, synchrotron selfCompton (SSC) and external-Compton (EC) processes (e.g., Ghisellini & Tavecchio 2009;Sun et al 2014;Zhang et al 2014), plus emission from an accretion disk/corona. The χ 2 minimization technique is applied to perform the fitting (see Zhang et al 2014, for details).…”

“…Pure SSC model was widely adopted in fitting the multi-wavelength SED of HBL BL Lacs (e.g., Mastichiadis & Kirk 1997;Krawczynski et al 2004;Zhang et al 2014), while luminous FSRQs prefer SSC+EC model (e.g., Sambruna et al 1999;Chen & Bai 2011;Yan et al 2014). Böttcher & Chiang (2002) proposed that the EC from BLR may play a role in some intermediate and low-energy-peaked BL lacs.…”

Similar to Aleksić et al (2014), the nonsimultaneous radio data (the blue filled square in Figure 1) is also included in χ 2 fitting, due to a possible correlation between radio and optical emission which suggest a common origin of the two bands emission (Aleksić et al 2014).…”
