Relativistic quark models of baryons with instantaneous forces

Abstract: This is the first of a series of three papers treating light baryon resonances (up to 3 GeV) within a relativistically covariant quark model based on the three-fermion Bethe-Salpeter equation with instantaneous two- and three-body forces. In this paper we give a unified description of the theoretical background and demonstrate how to solve the Bethe-Salpeter equation by a reduction to the Salpeter equation. The specific new features of our covariant Salpeter model with respect to the usual nonrelativistic quar… Show more

“…In addition, the instanton induced two-body interaction has been claimed to generate the low mass of the Roper resonance. On the other hand, the level ordering between the positive and negative parity nucleon states remains inverted as compared to experiment, the Λ(1405) with J P = 1 /2 − remains a problem and several states in the ∆-spectrum are problematic [132][133][134]. A phenomenological extension to the potentials used in [132][133][134] with ten additional parameters improved the situation but did not resolve all issues [336].…”

“…Relativistic corrections to interquark potentials have been provided in Refs. [18,128,129], whilst attempts at formulating a covariant picture have been made for mesons [130,131] and baryons [132][133][134].…”
