Relaxation inhomogeneity of the structure of latex polymers modified with water-soluble phthalocyanine

Abstract: The possibility to quantitatively analyze change in the relaxation microinhomogeneity of latex polymers during variation in the method of their preparation and modification with ionic phthalocyanine has been shown. The probability of estimating the width of the continuous relaxation time spectra via compari son of the temperature dependences of the given internal friction spectra and the temperature dependence of variation in the discrete relaxation time of the α process has been demonstrated. The correlation … Show more

“…Without elaborating the model, let us point out that temperature dependences of intensity of dissipative losses of relaxation process λ of the studied copoly mers are characterized by the presence of maxima of λ max corresponding to their glass transition points Т max . To compare these dependences for copolymers of different composition and modification, intensity λ of dissipative losses is divided by the maximum value of losses λ/λ max corresponding to unity and is analyzed as dependent on temperature ratio (Т -Т max )/Т max [17]. Graphical analysis of this dependence shows that when the corresponding curve is broadened, one can assume an increase in relaxation nonuniformity of the polymer material.…”

“…The effect of ionic phthalocyanine on the structure and properties of latex polymers formed using various emulsion polymerization methods can be elucidated using the method of dynamic mechanical relaxation spectroscopy that is based on the possibility of analyz ing high elasticity and relaxation behavior of the poly mer [15][16][17] in studies of characteristics of dissipative processes in the range of polymer glass transition tem peratures.…”
