En torno al proceso de alimentación humana hay cuatro pilares básicos: producción, acceso, inocuidad y calidad nutritiva de los alimentos; si alguno falla, da lugar a lo que se denomina inseguridad alimentaria y esta situación tiene un efecto directo en la calidad de vida de las personas. El objetivo de este trabajo fue dar respuesta a la pregunta: ¿cuáles son los principales hallazgos en torno a la inseguridad alimentaria en México, publicados en los últimos 14 años y realizados bajo metodología cualitativa? Método: se presenta una revisión sistemática cuya búsqueda de artículos se realizó en las bases de datos Springer Link, Redalyc y Google Académico, con combinaciones de palabras en español e inglés (inseguridad alimentaria, seguridad alimentaria, estudios cualitativos, método cualitativo, México) y que hubiesen sido publicados en el periodo 2006-2020. Un total de diez trabajos de investigación fueron localizados y la información se organizó a partir de diferentes ejes temáticos que permitieron identificar método y técnicas utilizadas, así como hallazgos relacionados con percepciones, experiencias y prácticas de alimentación de las personas, e información de estrategias de respuesta ante la inseguridad alimentaria, entre otros. Se discuten estos hallazgos a la luz de las implicaciones cotidianas para las personas de estudio y en vinculación a la calidad de vida en México.

“…It can be seen that the respondents answered to be very satisfied with the quality of life they have; while in the remaining dimensions the citizens express to have an adequate relation with the public services given to satisfy their basic needs. Certainly, the arithmetic mean of the values show the following relationship with the degree of individual satisfaction: first respondents report that they are very satisfied with the quality of life; so after Tonon (2015), it can be concluded that the citizens are satisfied with the material conditions (social welfare) and their psychosocial conditions (personal welfare); Now people feel moderate satisfaction to the road development that currently exists in the country, education, the economy of Canton, the central government and the health system; on the other hand, people in connection with the action of the municipal authority (Local Government) and his way of doing politics at the level of the municipalities of the nine areas, externalized little satisfaction. Listhaug (1984) finds that the personal satisfaction of individuals influences significantly and consistently the institutional trust.…”

Purpose: The aim of this paper is to propose a methodological framework that calculates a synthetic indicator of satisfaction of citizens of the nine geographical areas of planning and development of Ecuador (zones). Methodology/Approach:The methodology is based on fuzzy logic and the degree of similarity to ideal solutions. The information is obtained through the application of a structured survey based on the European Social Survey to the Ecuadorian society. The analysis is based on eight different dimensions of satisfaction, namely: (1) Life; (2) Economy; (3) City Government; (4) Transparency; (5) Education; (6) Health System; (7) Roads; and (8) National Government. Findings:The results obtained help different stakeholders to have important insights about how the citizens' quality of life and satisfaction depend to some extent on important public services that form the pillars of the social welfare, education and health system. However, our results also suggest that other areas of Ecuador can also benefit from the improvement of the policies developed by the local governments.Research Limitation/implication: An important research limitation is based on the limited number of segment variables used in the study, the geographical zones. Thus, an important venue for future research can be envisaged including other interesting traits analyzed by other scholars, like access to the internet, the social class or the size of the city. Originality/Value of paper:The analysis of individual satisfaction and citizens' quality of life is paramount by the existing interdependence with social cohesion that exists nowadays in Ecuador.

Saskatoon, one of Canada's fastest growing cities, has attracted and retained a great number of Asian immigrants in recent years, a trend particularly notable because of the city's historically low immigration retention and absence of ethnic enclaves. Committed to engaged scholarship, the Community-University Institute for Social Research and the Open Door Society, a newcomer settlement agency in Saskatoon, collaborated on this qualitative study, working together to hear from immigrants and document what they identified as barriers to and facilitators of their Quality of Life (QoL) in the city. In particular, in their discussion of QoL and its determinants, recent and established first generation Asian immigrants in Saskatoon presented in this study related their perceptions of quality of life to neighbourhood resources, sense of belonging in the community, and social comfort (social reception). Furthermore, most of the immigrants of this study showed strong determination to integrate into the mainstream, which they believed would bring them and their children better quality of life in Canada. Three key themes emerged: educational access and opportunity, socio-economic and socio-cultural factors, and reception of the local neighbourhood to recent immigrants. This study sheds light on the perspectives of Asian immigrants settling in a Canadian mid-sized city that remains without ethnic enclaves.
