“…This correlation is similar to some, 25 yet lower than other, 26 testeretest studies in children, but considerable differences in research contexts, study designs, and outcome measures can explain this. Previous review studies have shown that reliability correlations for food frequency questionnaires among school-age children vary considerably, 27,28 confirming instrument and setting effects. Our finding that the reliability coefficient was nonsignificant for boys yet highly significant for girls suggested a nonequal distribution of the measurement error among participants.…”

“…The usefulness of a combination of statistical methods in dietary validation that was demonstrated in this study has been highlighted by other researchers. 28,40 The diagnostic accuracy of the modified MEDFICTS dietary fat screener points to higher sensitivity at the expense of specificity. For this reason the modified MEDFICTS dietary fat screener performed well in correctly identifying those children who had high fat intakes, but was not able to correctly identify those with prudent fat intakes.…”

“…While the FFQ did not include measures of portion size, frequency of consumption is a major determinant of intake (55) . FFQ have been used previously in adolescents (37,56,57) . However, previous FFQ developed for use in adolescent populations have included flavoured milk along with plain milk to calculate total milk consumption to reflect the eating habits of adolescents (e.g.…”

“…Better correlation coefficients between FFQs and reference methods have been reported in studies that ask no portion sizes, measure a short period of time (previous day or week) and for whom the number of questionnaire items is limited to 20-60 items. 4 Sex, education, weight status, 2 culture 5 and ethnic group 6 are factors which may be related to the validity of FFQs. Also, misreporting based on social desirability has been observed among adults 7 as well as among children.…”
