Reliability Evaluation of Micro-grids Containing PV System and Hydropower Plant

Abstract: This paper presents the reliability evaluation for a microgrid composed of conventional generators (CGs), a photovoltaic (PV) system, and a small hydropower plant (HPP). The PV system has an intermittent output and the HPP output is limited depending on several constraints. Therefore, their reliability evaluation should be performed according to the CGs. This paper proposes a methodology to evaluate the reliability of the microgrid based on Monte Carlo simulations. To this end, a simple operational strategy fo… Show more

“…Xu et al (2016) focused on assessing the reliability of the microgrid accurately, taking into account its operating condition. A reliability assessment of the microgrid consisting of conventional generators, a photovoltaic system, and a small hydropower plant based on Monte Carlo simulation was presented (Na and Kim, 2019). In the study by Santhan et al (2022), the authors introduced a method to enhance the resilience of existing microgrids against lowprobability, high-impact events using Monte Carlo simulation and load prioritization.…”
