Reliability testing of the Danish version of the Kidney Disease Quality of Life Short Form™

Abstract: With the exception of the scale "quality of social interaction" the Danish translation of the KDQOL-SF achieved values in the internal consistency reliability test of the same level as the original U.S. version. When data were stratified according to dialysis treatment, the reliability of PD patients scores was lower. Generic data from the questionnaire SF36 should be scored according to the Danish SF36 manual.

The KDQOL-SF has been applied in several international studies on dialysis patients, and in a Scandinavian population [28]. The questionnaire was translated into Norwegian and back-translated to American English, as instructed by the Rand group.…”

“…The KDQOL-SF has been used in several studies of dialysis patients [26][27][28][29]. The English version has previously been translated into Danish and validated in Danish dialysis patients [30][31][32][33]. Dialysis patients completed both questionnaires, whereas diabetic patients with normal kidney function only completed the SF-36.…”

“…A higher score indicates better health. The reliability of the Danish version of KDQOL version 1.3 has recently been tested [14]. After removing the question 13e from the scale Quality of Social Interaction the Danish version reached values in the internal consistency reliability test equivalent to the original US version.…”
