Remediation of traditional stone columns by lead inlays
Abstract:Typical cracks often occur on traditional stone columns at the position of joints. In addition, such columns bear witness of various repair methods that have been used over time to stop continuous spreading of cracks. Systematic numerical and laboratory analyses conducted on almost real size samples have revealed that the basic cause of cracking is the concentration of stress at contact surfaces.
