“…Previous studies report that reminiscence therapy improves patients' QoL in AD patients and acute ischemic stroke patients. [7][8][9] In line with these previous studies, we discovered that reminiscence therapy could improve patients' QoL to some extent in postoperative gastric cancer patients. The possible reasons were: Reminiscence therapy could alleviate patients' anxiety as discussed earlier, which might reduce perceived stress and enhance their motivation, then further led to improved QoL in postoperative gastric cancer patients.…”

“…[ 8 ] Meanwhile, reminiscence therapy alleviates patients’ anxiety reflected by lower HADS-Anxiety score and self-rating anxiety scale score in acute ischemic stroke patients. [ 9 ] As to cancer patients, 1 latest study reports that reminiscence therapy reduces anxiety and depression in postoperative colorectal cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy. [ 10 ] However, the application of reminiscence therapy in gastric cancer patients is never reported.…”

“…For instance, a multicenter randomized controlled study discloses that in older adults with Alzheimer’s disease and vascular dementia, the reminiscence therapy may decrease the global cognitive function (MMSE) score but increase the memory (MAT) score compared with usual care [ 20 ]. With the wide application of reminiscence therapy in other brain-related diseases, such as acute ischemic stroke, reminiscence therapy is also reported to serve as an efficient strategy in attenuating mood disorders, such as anxiety and depression, apart from ameliorating the cognitive function [ 12 , 22 ]. As for the application of reminiscence therapy on nursing care in cancer patients, relevant studies are still lacking.…”

“…Reminiscence therapy is a common treatment method for dementia patients that involves encouraging them to share their memories and past experiences, which could evoke memories and improve psychological well-being (9)(10)(11). Recently, reminiscence therapy has been adopted to improve the psychological health and quality of life of diverse postoperative cancer patients (12)(13)(14). For instance, a reminiscence therapy-based care program mitigated anxiety and depression in post-operative non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients (13); meanwhile, it also reduced the levels of anxiety and depression and improved satisfaction in glioma patients after tumor resection (15).…”
