Abstract:The removal of three acid pharmaceuticals—clofibric acid (CLA), diclofenac (DCL), and indomethacin (IND)—by a biological-photocatalytic sequential system was studied. These pharmaceutical active compounds (PhACs) are considered to persist in the environment and have been found in water and sewage, producing adverse effects on the aquatic environment. For the biological process, in batch experiments, a fixed bed bioreactor and activated sludge (hybrid bioreactor), under aerobic conditions, was used as pretreatm… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
