“…Renal sinus lipomatosis is the condition where there is an increase in the amount of fat in the renal sinus. The following terms have also been used to describe the condition: renal fibrolipomatosis (Olsson and Weiland, 1963;Kreel et al, 1966), replacement lipomatosis of the kidney (Kutzmann, 1931 ;Exley and Devereaux, 1935;Frumkin, 1947), renal lipomatosis (Kutzmann, 1931 ;Peacock and Balle, 1936;Priestley, 1938), fatty transformation of the kidney (Rickards, 1883), fatty replacement of the kidney, lipomatous paranephritis, and lipoma diffusum renis (Faegenburg et al, 1964). Of these terms, renal fibrolipomatosis is probably the most commonly employed at present, but as an increase in fibrous tissue is not invariably present, we prefer the term renal sinus lipomatosis.…”
