Show more

“…Similar results were obtained by Lizarazo‐Peña et al. (2022), who carried out a phenotypic characterization of yellow diploid potato in different localities of Colombia at different altitudes. They observed that the localities located at altitudes above 3000 m above sea level had lower environmental indices than the localities found between 2600 and 3000 m above sea level.…”

“…Regarding the reaction norms obtained as a function of altitude (Figure 1B), an inversely proportional relationship of low magnitude was observed in most of the cultivars, indicating that the higher the altitude, the lower the yield, with the exception of cultivar UN 64, which showed specific adaptation to altitudes above 3000 m above sea level. “…The beginning of tuberization began later in the Primavera variety than in the others. According to Lizarazo (2020), the onset of tuber development occurs around 330 AGDD. It accelerates at the end of the cycle, higher than was found in this study (Tab.…”

“…Furthermore, this country presents a high diversity of cultivars of S. tuberosum Phureja group (Estrada, 1996). The Phureja group potatoes are diploid cultivars characterized by a short crop cycle (3 to 4 months), limited tuber dormancy, and their sensitivity to photoperiod for tuberization, showing an adaptation to short days and fast maturation time (Lizarazo et al, 2022). This group is cultivated at altitudes between 2,200 and 3,200 m a.s.l.…”
