Rényi generalizations of the conditional quantum mutual information

Abstract: Hilbert's projective metric in quantum information theory J. Math. Phys. 52, 082201 (2011) The conditional quantum mutual information I(A; B|C) of a tripartite state ρ ABC is an information quantity which lies at the center of many problems in quantum information theory. Three of its main properties are that it is non-negative for any tripartite state, that it decreases under local operations applied to systems A and B, and that it obeys the duality relation I(A; B|C) = I(A; B|D) for a four-party pure state on… Show more

“…As already stated in Section 1, the aforementioned monotonicity was proven in [BSW15a] for local quantum operations on one of the two systems A or B, and it was left as an open question to determine if the property holds for local quantum operations on the other system (with numerical evidence supporting a positive answer). Here, we assume the latter to hold.…”

“…Complementary to this aim, we take the results here as further justification that [BSW15a] has pinned down a useful Rényi generalization of the conditional mutual information. Furthermore, our work suggests that the axiomatic approach to entanglement theory and discord does not uniquely single out the von Neumann entropy-based squashed entanglement or discord (however, further effort is needed to justify this claim in full).…”

“…Note that the inequality (2.15) for the Rényi entropies originally appeared in [55]. The last assertion concerns the Rényi conditional mutual information I α (A; B|C) ρ , defined in [10] for a tripartite state ρ ABC and α > 0 as…”

“…We can regard the expressions S β (R|B) ρ − S α (R|AB) ρ and I α (R; AB) ρ − I β (R; B) ρ appearing in the bounds on the fidelity in Lemma 3.1 and Theorem 3.2 as Rényi generalizations of the conditional mutual information I(A; R|B) ρ (see [10] for a detailed discussion of this concept).…”
