Repair of rigid pavement using micro concrete material

Abstract: Rapid setting materials, especially for concrete repairs made on major arteries such as toll roads which must withstand heavy traffic. Several manufacturers of construction chemicals have been producing various types of rapid setting materials designed for use in repairing such toll roads. However, the existing toll road repair materials have not demonstrated satisfactory performance when applied in the field. This study modified micro concrete materials by adding Polycarboxylate Ether (PCE) and Polypropylene … Show more

“…To solve the above-described issues, concretes with fiber reinforcement have been widely used in highway engineering, in which different fiber types are used: steel, basalt, polypropylene and glass [12][13][14][15]. The usage of fiber permits increases in crack resistance and the most important parameters for rigid pavements-flexural strength and reduced abrasion [16].…”

“…In Indonesia, concrete would be required to maintain 57 % of its paved road network, which is approximately 516, 239 km, and to pave the remaining unpaved road network. Concrete pavement is the material equally preferred for paving high heavy traffic roads such as the Cipularang toll road that connects Jakarta to Bandung [8]. Consequently, more cement will be needed to provide these infrastructure improvements.…”
