Abstract: Tracheo-cutaneous fistula is a relatively uncommon complication that can occur after tracheotomy. The possibility of fistula increases in proportion to the duration of intubation and it occurs due to the transposition of stratified squamous epithelium in the passage between the tracheal mucosa and the skin.
