“… 1 The first report of these cases occurred in 1888, with the highest reported uterine tumor (63.6 kg), which was operated by Hunt et al 3 after an autopsy. Behrend 4 operated a 60 kg tumor, and the patient died due to pneumonia 48 hours later. 4 Singhabhandhu et al 5 have described the largest uterine tumor removed with survival of the patient (45.5 kg).…”

“…A weight of uterus is a main factor of preoperative assessment of hysterectomy, and several formulas of calculation of uterine weight are reported. To our knowledge, heaviest uterine weight of each surgical procedure is 2,421 g in vaginal hysterectomy [ 3 ], 3,200 g in laparoscopic hysterectomy [ 3 ], 3,543 g in robotic hysterectomy [ 4 ], and 60,700 g in conventional abdominal hysterectomy (death by pneumonia on 2nd postoperative day) [ 5 ]. Therefore, in the present case it was difficult to perform vaginal hysterectomy or laparoscopic hysterectomy; we selected minilaparotomy hysterectomy.…”
