“…Participants also appeared to be influenced by relatives or friends who informed them micronutrient supplements should not be given to babies as they have side effects that would make their babies sick: "I have not given my baby micronutrient supplements, because people have told me, it will give my baby diarrhea and that the supplements make them [referring to babies] get sick. I did not want my baby to lose weight" (9,22). This collective idea of micronutrients causing negative side effects (i.e., diarrhea, loss of appetite, or constipation) influenced the majority of participants to stop following or not follow at all the micronutrient supplementation recommendations given by their providers.…”
