Research and development of a pilot continuous annealing and MgO coating line for grain-oriented silicon steel

Abstract: To investigate the processes of continuous annealing and MgO coating of grain-oriented silicon steel (GO), a pilot-scale line was developed, which could realize functions such as cleaning, heating, decarburization, reduction, nitriding, and MgO coating in a coil-to-coil manner. A significant feature of the pilot line is the integrated furnace consisting of six furnace units and the inbetween separating devices, which work collaboratively to adjust the lengths, and to separate the annealing atmospheres and temp… Show more

“…The heating section enables the precise elevation of various strip steels to their designated annealing temperature, with the resulting microstructure being intricately linked to the heating rate, annealing temperature, and duration. [9] Notably, the heating rate during the continuous annealing process exerts a substantial influence on controlling the recrystallization structure of nonoriented silicon steel, encompassing grain size, nucleation rate, and nucleation location. Presently, the researches predominantly concentrate on the recrystallization behavior during the isothermal process, [10][11][12][13] while the exploration of recrystallization during rapid heating preceding the isothermal phase remains neglected.…”
