Research and evaluation of water quality in outdoor swimming pools

Abstract: The article presents the assessment of the quality of water in outdoor pools, based on the results of bacteriological and physicochemical tests and their comparison with the admissible values in this respect. The analyzes were carried out during two bathing seasons, in 2017 and 2018. The quality of water from sports, recreational and children's pools was analyzed, as well as water introduced into the pools from the circulation systems. The decisive role in the assessment of pool water quality is played by the … Show more

“…Due to the experience from earlier authors’ studies [ 22 , 23 ] and the dependence of chemical concentrations on the sampling point location in swimming pool basins [ 12 , 23 ], samples were taken from various characteristic points of both the basin, the installation and the pool water treatment system ( Figure 2 ), and an average mixed sample was used for the analyses. The sampling points were selected in such a way as to ensure the reliability of the reported results, as during the processes taking place in the swimming pool water system, changes of micropollutants may occur.…”

“…In Poland, regulations limiting concentrations of chloroform and THM in pool water have been implemented since 2016. Despite the time that has passed since the introduction of those regulations, meeting those requirements still poses problems [ 45 ]. Maximum values, especially for chloroform, are very strict in Poland.…”
