Research focus and thematic trends in magnet hospital research: A bibliometric analysis of the global publications

Abstract: Aims The study aims to carry out a bibliometric analysis of the research on magnet hospital from 1988‐2020. Design A statistical and visualization bibliometric analysis was conducted between February‐May 2020. Methods The information was extracted from Web of Science by the topic advanced search strategy. HistCite‐Pro, Excel, GunnMap, BibExcel and VOSviewer were used to extract, integrate and visualize the bibliometric information. Furthermore, the research contents of the core‐authors were explored and summar… Show more

“…Keywords play a major role in the analysis of data sources and reveal the main contents of existing research, while summarizing information regarding terms, goals, and methods, and themes of articles. [20][21][22] Keyword co-occurrence refers to >2 keywords appearing in the same article simultaneously. [23] This analysis can establish hot topics and track research frontier transitions in the scientific domain.…”

“…Better nursing work environments were previously associated with Magnet accreditation (Kelly et al, 2011;Kutney-Lee et al, 2015;Lake et al, 2020;Stimpfel et al, 2014;Yang et al, 2021).…”

“…Although the association between Magnet recognition and nursing work environment is well established (Kelly et al, 2011;Kutney-Lee et al, 2015;Stimpfel et al, 2014;Yang et al, 2021), little is known about hospital accreditation and its relationship to the nursing work environment. Magnet recognition is poorly represented outside of the United States, with few organisations certified internationally (American Nurses Credentialing Center, 2020b), while hospital accreditation is more than 100 years old and is present in health care systems in more than 70 countries worldwide (Brubakk et al, 2015).…”
