Research into the Virtual Simulation and Scheduling Optimization Technology in Ship Dock Assembly Process

Abstract: This paper summarizes the application of virtual simulation in the shipbuilding industry, especially points out research status of the key resources of shipbuilding (Ship Dock). Finally, the idea is put forward that a virtual simulation based on both intelligent algorithm and QUEST to improve the efficiency of ship dock.

“…3D CAD tools for detailed design and spatial coordination are well established as well as simulation tools for several engineering fields; for example hydrodynamic analysis, torsional vibration analysis, multibody simulations and mechanical stress analysis. There are also simulation tools present for support of production -for optimisation of production process and control (Wang, 2014) as well as for technical simulations of specific tasks like welding (Fricke and Zacke, 2014). Visualisation tools based on Virtual and Augmented Reality (Freiherr von Lukas, 2010;Pérez Fernández and Alonso, 2015;Olbrich et al, 2011) are used to support arrangement and spatial coordination during engineering and production by 3D visualisation of rooms.…”

“…By employing computer-aided welding technology to replace traditional welding technology, some advanced shipbuilding companies have gained a good benefit, such as CADDS5 system of America PTC Company and TRIBON system of Sweden KCS Company. Some common CAD software, such as Auto CAD, Pro-E, NX, CAXA, Solid works, etc, have all integrated welding module, which brings great convenience for computer-aided welding [5] [6].…”
