Research of Accuracy of the Aircraft Position Using the GPS and EGNOS Systems in Air Transport

Abstract: The article presents and describes results of research in determination of the aircraft positioning accuracy with use of the GPS and EGNOS satellite systems in the air navigation. The article, in particular, makes a comparison of the designated aircraft coordinates in the GPS and EGNOS systems in relation to the reference position, determined from the precision differential RTK-OTF technique. The experimental test was conducted in Slovakia, in the vicinity of Kosice airport. In the test, a trial flight by Cess… Show more

“…In the previous flight experiments in Poland, the differential RTK technique in the OTF mode was used as the aircraft reference position. Such a solution was proposed, and in-flight tests described, among others, in research papers [25][26][27]. Therefore, in Polish scientific research, there is a lack of confirmation and verification of the PPP measurement method as an alternative measurement technique to determine the aircraft's real trajectory.…”

“…Thus, the works [ 11 , 29 , 30 , 31 ] showed the results of DGNSS positioning accuracy in relation to the RTK-OTF solution. In turn, works [ 29 , 32 , 33 , 34 , 35 ] presented position error results for the SPP (Single Point Positioning) positioning method in air navigation. Subsequently, papers [ 32 , 34 , 36 , 37 ] present results of EGNOS (European Geostationary Navigation Overlay Service) solution in relation to the reference position of the flight determined from the differential RTK-OTF technique.…”
