Research of Heat Power in Friction Stir Spot Welding

Abstract: Nowadays the most perspective, high-tech and productive process is friction stir spot welding. The most important part of this technology is to determine the temperature of the material in the stir zone. This parameter is easily counted by the amount of the heat input, put in the welding zone. We made experimental researches about the relation of the heat power, therotation speed and the diameter of the working tool. For that purpose an experimental scheme was chosen, which models a welding material (aluminum … Show more

“…To receive the data about the distribution of the friction moment, specific and full heat input across the working surface radius of the real tool the following measurements should be done [5]. The tool, 20 mm in diameter, is parted in the concentric areas (rings), 2 mm in width, with the radius from r 1 =1 mm to r 5 =9 mm, than the optimal tool rotation speed n opt = 600, 800, 1200, 1600 rpm (ω=62,8-167 s -1 ) was chosen.…”

“…The desk is fixed on the ball thrust bearing moving part, its still part is fixed on the base. During the working tube rotation and its compressing with the certain effort towards the working plate its friction moment is defined by the F force, which is measured by the electronical dynamometer and the rod length l [5].…”
