Research on a Wind Lidar Without Blind Zone Based on the Technologies of Pseudo Random Code Phase Modulation and Heterodyne Detection

Abstract: In this measurement method, a wind lidar system with no blind zone based on the technologies of heterodyne detection and pseudorandom code phase modulation is proposed. The simulation results show the feasibility of the method. 15m range resolution and 7.75cm/s line of sight (LOS) wind velocity resolution can be achieved from 0 m to 300m, when the laser transmitted power is 2mW, the transmitted pulse length is 100us, the receiving telescope aperture is 2cm, and an accumulation times of 10. The simulati… Show more

“…Lantz et al proposed a series of new instantaneous information features combined with support vector machine classifiers to successfully complete the modulation identification of 12 kinds of digital signals [13]. Yang et al realized the modulation recognition of ASK, PSK, and FSK signals by improving the traditional instantaneous information features and increased the recog-nition rate by 15% under the same conditions [14]. In 2015, Bruyn and Gao applied multiorder cyclic cumulants to the classification of multiuser modulations [15].…”

“…Laser micro-Doppler detection also uses a heterodyne detection system of laser speed and distance measurement [ 29 ]. Using the laser heterodyne interference system in Figure 2 , the laser source is replaced with a single-frequency laser of 1064 nm.…”

“…However, for the pulse coherent lidar, the blind zone crosstalk noise is much higher than the effective signal level, and the effectiveness of these methods in reducing crosstalk noise is quite limited. Yang et al [15] proposed to use the pseudo-phase coding technology to improve the distance resolution of the pulse CDWL system and proposed to solve the near-field blind zone problem. However the coding system has a lower magnitude of the power spectrum, compared with a non-coding system [16], so the effective detection distance of the coding system is limited.…”
