Research on Application of Symbol Typesin Design and Semiotics

Abstract: This article starts from introducing the concept of semiotics researches of Cassirer, Duclos, Todorov, Maurice, Fromm and Susan Lange. It analyzes the three functions of symbols, that are the image, indicative and symbolic functions, and classifies the symbol’s image into the materialistic image and idealistic image, the symbol’s function into the systematic, discriminate, and guiding identification system, and the symbolic function into the right, age, region and other aspects of the function.
