Research on Design of Stalk Furniture Based on the Concept and Application of Miryoku Engineering Theory

Abstract: Through discussion on the disposal of crop stalks in rural China, where stalks are usually burned in the open air, resulting in the production of a large amount of smoke and air pollution, this study has been conducted to discuss the reasonable and effective use of waste stalks, and to explain the excellent characteristics of stalks from the perspective of green, ecological sustainable design and user perceptual needs, as well as the application of stalks in furniture design. In view of the accuracy of stalks … Show more

“…At present, the research of furniture based on D4S theory mainly focuses on material selection, material evaluation, and sustainable consumption in the sustainable design methodology of furniture. Sustainable design is a design activity based on sustainable development aimed at achieving harmonious coexistence and sustainable development for people, nature, society, and ecology [44,45]. Furniture is indispensable in human social life.…”

“…We further evaluated the publication performance and citation frequency of different countries in this field. Figure 4a shows that China is the leading country in terms of publication output, followed by the United States (85), Brazil (62), and Italy (49). However, in terms of citation frequency, the most cited countries are the United States (5065 times), China (2094 times), Italy (1242 times), and the United Kingdom (1117 times).…”

“…Vermeer [84] used machine learning to design novel furniture. Li [85] used the evaluation grid method in Miryoku engineering to guide straw furniture design research and practice. Matwiej [86] used the finite element method and empirical research to design the framework of soft cushion furniture and developed a 3D discrete model of the soft cushion furniture frame.…”

“…The Kansei engineering approach is a methodology that deals with the values and impressions people perceive. The Kansei engineering is a technique for translating and expressing the psychological image people have of a product into concrete product design [1] and is used in various domains [2]- [6] . In [4]- [6], rather than building an average sensitivity for the respondents as a whole, domain evaluation factors are constructed based on the individual preferences and attributes of the respondents.…”
