Research on selecting the optimal design of antivibrational lathe tool using computer simulation

Abstract: Computer simulation of machining processes can save cost, time, and lead to reach an effective predictive capability. In this paper, by using computer simulation, damping capability of the lathe tools under static and vibrational analysis at different tool overhang conditions is studied. A novel predictive model of the cutting tool is developed, in which damping capability of the tool is improved by using composite material with high damping capability. Epoxy granites with normal, rigid, and plastic structures… Show more

“…The purpose of the turning process is to achieve the proper consistency of machined parts by eliminating high material volumes. However, this performance in the cutting process depends on the following: machine rigidity, fixing rigidity, tool rigidity, and good vibration damping capability [2,[5][6][7][8]. Machine manufacturers are experienced in multi-tasking machines of the small to medium size and other Western manufacturers dominates to retain a leading position on the international market, which lies in building heavy machines, without losing precision.…”

“…Deng et al [9] designed and installed a rubber shock absorber on a satellite. Another paper was presented to affect the damping capability of the lathe tools under static and vibrational analysis by using computer simulation [10] . A method suggested the vibration damping of rotating machinery [11] .…”
