Research on the effect of yield strength of circular saw blade on roll tensioning process

Abstract: In this paper, a 2-D and 3-D finite element model of roll tensioning process of circular saw blade were established by Static/General module of ABAQUS software based on finite element method. The rolling force and tensioning stress distribution of circular saw blade were calculated by these two models which were proved to be true and reliable. The effects of yield strength of circular saw blade on tensioning stress distribution and rolling force were studied. The research achievements showed that a circular sa… Show more

“…A three-dimensional (3D) roll tensioning elastoplastic model was built by finite element method, which referred to the previous research results. [8][9][10] Previous studies had proved the accuracy of finite element method. The 3D model was shown in Figure 2 and the roll was analytical rigid body.…”

“…Szymani and Mote 5,6 built a theoretical model for roll tensioning process and got the residual stress of saw blade body. A finite element model for roll tensioning process was established by Nicoletti et al, 7 Heisel et al, 8 and Merhar et al 9 The influence of material properties of saw blade body on residual stress field of roll tensioned saw blade body was studied by Li and Zhang 10 based on finite element method (FEM). Generation and regulation mechanism of residual stress field of circular saw blade after multi-spot pressure tensioning was analyzed by Li et al [11][12][13] Theoretical analysis model of laser shock tensioning process was built by Li and Zhang [14][15][16] based on laser shock wave theory.…”

“…In the 1980s and 1990s, the dynamic stability of circular saw blades was analyzed by many researchers (Mote and Szymani 1977;Szymani and Mote 1977;Leu and Mote 1984;Schajer 1986;Holøyen 1987;Hutton 1991;Nishio and Marui 1996). Some researchers analyzed the influence of roll tensioning on the stability of circular saw blades (Szymani and Mote 1974;Schajer andMote 1983, 1984;Stakhiev 1999Stakhiev , 2003Cristóvão et al 2012;Zhang et al 2014;Li et al 2015aLi et al , 2015bLi et al 2016;Li and Zhang 2017). To improve stability, the impact of the temperature distribution and radial slots on the dynamic behavior of circular saw blades has also been analyzed by many researchers (Mote and Nieh 1973;Yu and Mote 1987;Ishihara et al 2010;Yuan 2012).…”
