Research on the Impact between Balls and Re-Circulating Mechanism of Ball Screws

Abstract: A Mechanical model of impact and contact between the ball and re-circulating mechanism in ball screw was brought forward according to the Hertz contact model and classical impact theory, along with the joint relationship of re-circulating mechanism and nut taken into account. Then the formula of the impact force and contact time was induced, which the elastic coefficient of restitution was considering in contact time calculation. Moreover, a special test unit was designed for contact time measurement and the c… Show more

“…Braccesi et al [36] presented a relationship between the Hertz equivalent elastic stress limit with typical design parameters such as the allowable material stress, the geometric characteristics in contact areas, the impact angles, and the rotational speed for different types of materials, using an elastic-plastic model for a curved body in contact. Zhang et al [37] studied the influence of various factors on the impact forces generated between the spheres and recirculation mechanism for different types of materials and for different recirculation geometries.…”

“…Z.Y. Zhang et al [4] discussed the influence factors on impact force between steel ball and re-circulating mechanism-material properties, groove geometry of re-circulating mechanism and impact angle, etc for example. However, few studies have been attempted to find the ball's material and different style of ball strain's effect on the performance of the ball screw mechanism.…”
