Research on the relationship between the structural properties of bedding layer in spring mattress and sleep quality

Abstract: Mattress, as a sleep platform, its types and physical properties has an important effect on sleep quality and rest efficiency. In this paper, by subjective evaluations, analysis of sleeping behaviors and tests of depth of sleep, the relationship between characteristics of the bedding materials, the structure of mattress, sleep quality and sleep behaviors were studied. The results showed that: (1) Characteristics of the bedding materials and structure of spring mattress had a remarkable effect on sleep behavior… Show more

“…In the case of having evening naps longer than 30 min, it may be possible that the students fell into slow-wave sleep to reduce homeostatic sleep pressure, which could possibly result in delayed bed time. As sleep progression and quality are affected by environmental conditions such as light [25,26], noise [27,28], bedding [29,30], and body position [31], future studies should ask about those conditions during the evening naps with subjective sleep evaluation.…”

“…China and Thailand showed less difference between beds. Shen et al (2012) stated there is an impression that Chinese like to sleep on a harder bed, not a soft mattress, however, in their study they proved that sleeping quality is dependent on many factors and high sleeping quality could be achieved with a softer mattress. China and Germany appreciated the hammock less.…”

“…Finski studenti također navode stres kao najveći faktor koji remeti san, dok ističu i kašalj / gripu /druge bolesti, buđenje bez razloga, buđenje zbog fizioloških potreba, zvukove iz okoline i temperaturu okoline [15]. Na kvalitetu sna utječe i madrac na kojem se spava [37]. Tom je stavkom većina studenata u našem istraživanju zadovoljna.…”
