Research on Trajectory Prediction of a High-Altitude Zero-Pressure Balloon System to Assist Rapid Recovery

Abstract: A comprehensive simulation model is established to predict the trajectory of a high-altitude zero-pressure balloon flight system with no parachute that is required to carry the load floating at the designated altitude for several hours or less. A series of mathematical models, including thermal dynamic, atmospheric, earth, wind, geometry, and exhaust models, are developed to predict the trajectory of the balloon flight system. Based on these models, the uncertainties of the launch parameters and the correspond… Show more

“…This term has been introduced by Paulsen [1] in the form of a variational problem under a constraint and with an idea to replace the so-called e-balloon explored intensively in the 70s by NASA (cf., e.g., [2]). More detail about the present day situation with the zero-pressure balloons can be found in [3].…”

“…The development of science and technology and the broad prospects of near-space flight platforms have drawn people's attention to near-space aircraft. Due to the important application prospects of near space in the military and civilian fields [1][2][3][4][5], many countries are conducting relevant research [6][7][8][9].…”
