Research on U-shaped tuning stub RFID tag on different objects

Abstract: A new ultra-high frequency radio frequency identification (RFID) tag antenna, which is comprised a U-shaped tuning stub and a dipole radiator for different permittivity surfaces is investigated, fabricated, and measured. For a conjugate match to the NXP G2XM chip impedance of 29–j137 at 915 MHz, a dipole tag antenna with U-shaped stubconnected to dipole arms was designed. Simple size adjustments of the U-shaped tuning stub and dipole radiator of the antenna allow for easy control of the antenna resistance and … Show more

“…Several types of LP UHF tag antennas, such as dipole, patch, and inverted F-antennas, have been studied. [1][2][3][4][5][6][7][8] In this study, the proposed LP tag received only half of the power transmitted by the CP reader antenna because of polarization mismatch. Theoretically, a half-power (3-dB) variation can change the reading range by approximately 41%.…”

“…Moreover, a study on the performance of RFID U‐shaped dipole tag antenna that is placed on different permittivity surfaces has been reported in Ref. . For near‐field applications, a meander line tag antenna designed for Europe band and used for short‐distance RFID UHF tagging for tracking packages in transport is proposed.…”

“…It is well known that most dipole-type antennas are adopted for RFID tags and use various inductively feeding techniques, such as T-matched feed, loop coupled feed, and U-shaped feed, in order to obtain high inductive reactance of the tags. For size requirement, curved dipole and meandering structures have been commonly used to reduce the length of the tag antenna [28]. Recently, a ground plane mode is proposed to overcome a bandwidth limitation.…”
