Research on Urban Street Network Structure Based on Spatial Syntax and POI Data

Luxiao Yang,
Qizhi Jin,
Feng Fu

Abstract: The rapid development of cities has led to increasingly problems in the road network structure of urban streets. Combining emerging big data technology with traditional street network analysis methods has become a new way to tackle it. Guilin is a famous international tourist city, and the “Two Rivers and Four Lakes” scenic area is an iconic symbol of Guilin’s scenery. Its streets connect various tourist spots. “…The integration of consumer conditions is a response to the development of scenic areas [40], for which POIs are widely used to indicate the level of development of the consumer conditions [41]. POI data are easier to process compared to traditional land survey data, remote sensing data, and socioeconomic data, having a higher level of precision in land use analyses [42].…”

“…As a critical evaluation tool, space syntax focuses on aspects such as accessibility, connectivity, and choice. It quantifies the distribution of services in public spaces and enhances their vitality and functionality by improving spatial distribution [31][32][33]. The theory of space syntax establishes a measurable relationship between spatial configuration and potential coexistence patterns on an abstract level [34].…”
