Research Progress of Conjugated Nanomedicine for Cancer Treatment

Abstract: The conventional cancer therapeutic modalities include surgery, chemotherapy and radiotherapy. Although immunotherapy and targeted therapy are also widely used in cancer treatment, chemotherapy remains the cornerstone of tumor treatment. With the rapid development of nanotechnology, nanomedicine is believed to be an emerging field to further improve the efficacy of chemotherapy. Until now, there are more than 17 kinds of nanomedicine for cancer therapy approved globally. Thereinto, conjugated nanomedicine, as … Show more

“…Researchers have been trying to address the issue with more specific methods of drug delivery including the use of nanotechnology in cancer therapeutics. Nanoparticles can be programmed to recognize cancerous cells for selective and accurate drug delivery with increased drug localization, solubility, and cellular uptake avoiding encounters with healthy cells, they will serve the needs better if the treatment is tailored to the requirements of the vulnerable individuals [156,157]. In this direction, antibody drug conjugates (ADC) is a fast expanding therapeutic strategy designed to selectively delivery drugs to cancer cells.…”

“…Named so for the photoluminescent nanostructures demonstrate fully quantized energy states with superior fluorescence characteristics, they are thought to be more specific and effective methods with wide applications in the diagnostics and molecular targeting of the transformed cells. Considering the NP based drug delivery system display better pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic profiles including efficient targeting of cancer cells and reduction in side effects, they are sure to serve the needs of precision oncology satisfactorily [156,157]. Further, antibody drug conjugates (ADC) is a fast expanding therapeutic strategy designed to selectively delivery drugs to cancer cells.…”

The NP-based drug delivery system, in general, displays better pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic profiles including efficient targeting of cancer cells and reduction in side effects, they are sure to serve the needs of precision oncology-based therapy satisfactorily [158,159]. Further, antibody drug conjugates (ADC) is a fast expanding therapeutic strategy designed to selectively deliver drugs to cancer cells.…”
