When social enterprises, being defined by their social mission and profitability, internationalize, they need to respond to institutional logics in the host country. By juxtaposing institutional logic and entry mode choice literature, this paper shows how social enterprises accommodate different institutional logics when they enter foreign markets. We collected data on Chinese healthcare reform, governmental policies and their changes, and conducted 36 in-depth interviews and three expert group meetings. By analyzing five non-Chinese hospitals entering China, we show how social enterprises, as hybrid organizations, respond to governmental, commercial, and social institutional logics, when entering a foreign market.

Despite recent calls for processual analysis of routines creation, little work has been done to investigate the entrepreneurial mechanisms that explain the creation and adoption of new routines. This paper provides a processual contribution to the study of organizational routines by proposing a model for routine creation, based on an analysis of collective entrepreneurial actions. Using an entrepreneurial bricolage lens, we show how agents, during the creation of new routines, develop mechanisms to adapt firm processes, enact external constraints and validate novel practices. Our analysis is based on a three-year collaborative study in a French biotechnology firm. We develop a processual model of routine creation comprising three phases: scanning, performing and adopting. The model provides new insights into the interplay between artefacts and entrepreneurial actions in the creation of new routines.

ResumenEl desarrollo endógeno y la economía social analizan una realidad compleja, como es el desarrollo de las localidades y territorios. El objeto de este trabajo es mostrar cómo la economía social considera que la solidaridad y la participación ciudadana son clave en los procesos de desarrollo, y cuáles son sus diferencias con el desarrollo local. Pero, dado que la economía social se adapta a la realidad y cambia de unos territorios a otros, contribuye de hecho al desarrollo solidario de los territorios. AbstractThe endogenous development and the social economy analyze a complex reality, such as the development of localities and territories. The purpose of this paper is to show how the social economy considers that solidarity and citizen participation are key in development processes, and what their differences are with local development. But, given that the social economy adapts to reality and changes from one territory to another, it in fact contributes to the solidarity development of the territories.
