“…It is necessary to distinguish 'political metaphor' from 'metaphor in political discourse'. “…Methodologically, corpus-based case studies have been conducted to examine political metaphors in political discourse (e.g., Cibulskiene ˙, 2012), some of which are cross-language comparative studies, such as comparisons between  metaphors in USA and Japanese political discourse (Fukuda, 2009). Metaphor elicitation surveys have been undertaken to explore participants' interpretation of political metaphors such as    (Musolff, 2021). In addition, experimental studies have explored the causal relationships between metaphorical framing concerning political issues and 'real-world attitudinal and behavioral response' (e.g., Brugman et al, 2017).…”

“…What these Cultural-Linguistic studies have in common is that they prioritize the identification of particular culture-specific combinations of source and target domains, which represent culture-specific choices of conceptual lenses through which particular topics can be viewed. Overall, such Cultural-Linguistic studies, especially those conducting crosslinguistic comparisons between the cultural metaphors entrenched in different societies (e.g., Musolff, 2021), attest to the Cultural-Linguistic argument that cultural metaphors pervade human cognition, as well as point to the utility of CMT as a tool for looking at languagespecific metaphorical expressions as a lens into the culture-specific cognitive structures speakers use to make sense of the world. Cultural Linguistics has enriched the cultural and linguistic description of language by providing researchers with frameworks and tools for demonstrating how culture influences thought, which influences language.…”

“…The view of conceptual metaphors in Cultural Linguistics generally corresponds with that of Cognitive Linguistics, with particular attention paid to cultural metaphors -culture-specific metaphors that represent culturally-influenced ways of viewing and understanding one concept in terms of another concept. The past two decades have witnessed an advent in research on cultural metaphors in a significant number of languages and societies all over the world, spanning many types of domains, including LIFE and DEATH in Taiwanese Mandarin (Lu, 2017(Lu, , 2020, NATION and POLITICS in English, Hungarian, Greek and Turkish (Musolff, 2021), KINSHIP and COMMUNITY in South Korean (Ahn, 2017), RIVERS and LOVE in Hungarian (Kóczy, 2017), as well as AGEING in Australian English (Benczes et al, 2017) (Lu, 2017, p. 53). What these Cultural-Linguistic studies have in common is that they prioritize the identification of particular culture-specific combinations of source and target domains, which represent culture-specific choices of conceptual lenses through which particular topics can be viewed.…”
