Residual generation and fault detection for discrete-time systems using an l∞ technique

Abstract: The paper presents a new design for a robust output observer and demonstrates that it can be used to detect sensor faults in uncertain systems with output disturbances. The time-domain design uses an I, technique to minimize a norm of the estimation error. The estimation error forms a residual signal that is the basis for fault detection, fault isolation and disturbance rejection. The minimum detectable fault and the maximum non-detectable fault are introduced to quantify the sensitivity of the detection schem… Show more

“…The question is: which one is the best or which one should be used in which practical situation? Optimization: In order to solve the above-mentioned problems a number of approaches via di!erent mathematical and control engineering tools have been developed, for instance, the frequency domain approach [11,13,14], the H -optimization technique [10, 11, 16}18], the optimization technique [15,19], mention only some of them.…”

“…In company with the development of robust control theory, approaches using new design tools like -synthesis (Sadrnia et al, 1997), the linear matrix interface (LMI) technique (Hou and and mixed norms (Khargonekar and Ting, 1993;Faitakis and Kantor, 1996) have received much attention.…”
