Residue level characterization of molecular interactions of intermembrane space domains governing the preprotein import into the mitochondrial matrix

Abstract: The presequence translocase can be dissected into three parts:A) The core subunits comprising Tim23, Tim17 and Tim50 (also collectively called Tim23 core ), B) The accessory subunits (such as Tim21, Pam17, Mgr2) that are regulatory in nature and are involved in the dynamic functioning of the presequence translocase, C) Motor associated subunits such as Tim44, Mge1, Pam18, and Pam 16.
