Residues and Dynamics of Kasugamycin in Chilli and Soil

Abstract: A simple and efficient method for determination of kasugamycin in chilli and soil was developed, and the fate of kasugamycin in chilli field ecosystem was also studied. Kasugamycin residues were extracted from sample, cleaned up by solid phase extraction and chromatographic column and then determined by ultra performance liquid chromatography with tandem mass spectrometry detection. The method got recoveries ranged from 77.82% to 83.35% with relative standard deviations of 2.20%-6.54%. As far as the accuracy a… Show more

“…Disinfectants can change microbial communities, but they also can be degraded by certain microorganisms (Lei et al, 2012). For example, kasugamycin is easily degraded, and dazomet in soil is quickly converted to methyl isothiocyanate (Lei et al, 2012;López-Fernández et al, 2016). This explained why kasugamycin and dazomet were undetectable in soil 14 days after disinfectant application.…”

“…MLOQs were at or below the default MRL values established for these compounds in the European Union (10 mg kg À1 ), and far below the MRL allowed in other countries such as USA (250 mg kg À1 for STR), 6 Japan (300 mg kg À1 for KAS) 34 or Canada (100 mg kg À1 for both compounds). In comparison with previous literature works that analyze either KAS or STR in vegetables, 13,28,29 the proposed method allows the simultaneous analysis of both compounds without losing sensitivity. To evaluate run-to-run precision, ve replicate analyses of blank samples spiked at two concentration levels, 10 mg kg À1 and 100 mg kg À1 , were performed.…”

“…Due to the amino groups present in their structures, both STR and KAS are poorly retained in reversed-phase columns such as C18 [9][10][11] and for this reason, alternative chromatographic separation modes such as ion pair liquid chromatography (IPLC), hydrophilic interaction liquid chromatography (HILIC) and mixed-mode chromatography have been used. Low resolution analyzers such as triple quadrupole [12][13][14][15][16][17][19][20][21][24][25][26][27]29 and quadrupole-ion trap 22,28 combined with multiple reaction monitoring (MRM) acquisition have been used to determine KAS and STR at low concentration levels. In fact, only two studies have been published dealing with the determination of KAS in foods.…”

“…The results of the linear regression and regression equation are shown in Table 1. The slope ratio between the slope of the matrix-matched standard curves and the slope of the standard solution curves reflects the effect of matrix interference [22]. The results show that the ion in the soil samples was strongly suppressed, which may have been due to the large amount of inorganic salts, organic matter, microorganisms, and other components in the soil, which competed for ionization with the target analytes to produce a strong matrix inhibition effect, while the result measured by the standard curve using pure solvent was much lower than the actual result.…”
