Show more

“…Similar results regarding the neutralization of soil acidity were also obtained by Branco et al (2013); Lasso et al (2013); Raymundo et al (2013) and Giostri et al (2014), using different types of residue. Branco et al (2013) verified an increase in the pH and a decrease in the potential acidity of two soils with different clay contents (142 and 390 g kg -1 ) with the application of doses of alkaline solid waste from the paper and cellulose industry.…”

“…According to these authors, the soil acidity correction occurred due to the high amount of carbonates and hydroxides present in this residue. Raymundo et al (2013) detected that residues obtained in marble sawdust (rock powders) have potential for use as soil acidity corrective. The authors obtained a linear increase in the pH and a decrease in the potential acidity of the soil with the addition of these residues.…”

“…Ceres, Viçosa, v. 66, n.3, p. 235-242, mai/jun, 2019 outstanding as soil amendments and fertilizers, for instance, coconut powders, rice husks, sewage sludge, poultry bedding, and others (Trigueiro & Guerrini, 2014;Alves et al, 2017;Bortolini et al, 2017). Among the main residues or byproducts are ashes from wood burning and powder of ornamental rocks since they have fertilizing and soil amendment properties, which has been widely documented in the scientific literature (Prates et al, 2010;Bonfim-Silva et al 2013;Welter et al, 2011;Silva et al, 2012a;Raymundo et al, 2013).…”

“…Various researchers have tested the use of dimension stone wastes for manufacturing ceramic products (Taguchi et al, 2014;Reis et al, 2015;Prado et al, 2012), concrete (Bacarji et al, 2013), vitreous material (Scarinci et al, 2000), and for treatment of acid mine drainage (Barros et al, 2009). Marble dust was also tested as corrective of natural soil acidity (Tozsin et al, 2014(Tozsin et al, , 2015Raymundo et al, 2013), in place of the lime (CaO) that is traditionally used for. The liming material reacts with carbon dioxide and water to yield HCO 3 , which raises the pH of soils and removes the H + and Al 3+ from the solution (Safari and Bidhendi, 2007).…”
